Advisory for Indians present in Ukraine, said - do not move towards border posts

India has asked its citizens stranded in Ukraine to exercise extreme caution at all times and not to move towards any border post without coordination with its officials to exit the country. The Indian Embassy in Ukraine has issued an advisory in the wake of reports of Russian attacks on several cities there and fierce fighting around the capital Kiev. The Indian embassy has especially advised citizens living in the eastern part of Ukraine to stay in their existing homes and stay inside homes or shelter houses as much as possible. All Indian citizens in Ukraine have been asked not to move towards any border post without coordination with the Indian government officials at the border posts and the emergency numbers of the Embassy of India in Kiev. Amidst the crisis, the Indian Embassy said that the situation at many checkpoints is sensitive and we are working with our embassies in neighboring countries to evacuate Indian citizens. We are finding it difficult to evacuate Indians who have reached the border check posts without informing them.India on Friday set up camp offices in the cities of Liev and Chernivtsi in western Ukraine to transport Indians to Hungary, Romania and Poland, despite difficult ground conditions.
