Vadym Boichenko, the mayor of the southern Ukrainian city of Mariupol, on Saturday said the city has been without electricity for five days now and that they have no water left. He also said that they have not been able to recover the dead, while airstrikes continued hitting the city for the sixth consecutive day.Mairupol, which has a population of nearly 4,00,000, has been without electricity for five days. "All our thermal substations rely on this power supply, so accordingly, we are without heat," Boichenko said.
The mayor also added that there were no mobile networks, and since the Russian attack on Mariupol, they have lost their reserve water supply, due to which the city is totally without water."We had 50 buses full of fuel, and we were just waiting for a ceasefire and for the roads to open so we could get people out of here," he said. "But now we are down to just 30 buses. We hid those buses in another location, away from the shelling, and lost another 10 there. So we are down to 20."
"All these talks are lies," he added. "All this is being done, I will repeat for the thousandth time, to destroy us as a nation."The mayor insisted that the morale in the city was high but they were "just hanging on." He also said that the city of Mariupol had ceased to exist. "At least the city that you once saw," he said.Vadym Boichenko, the mayor of the southern Ukrainian city of Mariupol, on Saturday said the city has been without electricity for five days now and that they have no water left.
