The helicopter of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi was not given permission to take off from Chandigarh on Monday. This happened because due to the movement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Punjab, 'No Fly Zone' was imposed in the area. PM Modi has gone to Punjab on Monday to address a rally in view of the Assembly elections to be held on February 20 in Punjab. Channi was to attend the rally of his party leader Rahul Gandhi in Hoshiarpur. PM Modi had gone to Jalandhar for campaigning and this was his first visit to the state after the Prime Minister's security lapse in Punjab last month. Officials said that Channi's helicopter was not allowed to take off from Chandigarh due to the implementation of the 'No Fly Zone'. Responding to the development, Channi said, "I am the chief minister, not a terrorist." In a public meeting in Jalandhar, Modi questioned the security arrangements of the Channi-led state government. Modi said, 'I wanted to visit Devi Talab Mandir (in Jalandhar) but the police administration asked me to go back by helicopter. This is the position of the Punjab government.
