Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday mocked ally National People's Party (NPP), saying no one in India knows it and voting for its candidates in Manipur elections would be useless as The party has 'no value'. He said that NPP ministers were earlier elected in Manipur government because of BJP. Addressing an election in Moirang assembly constituency, he said, "NPP has no government at the Centre. How will you go to the central government through NPP? If you form a BJP government in Manipur, you will be able to go straight. Here BJP candidate Mairembam Prithviraj Singh is in a triangular contest against Congress's Pukhrem Saratchandra Singh and NPP's Thongam Shanti Singh. Sarma, BJP's top strategist in the Northeast region, said that after the Manipur elections, his BJP will form the government on its own and there will be no place for NPP in it.
