Padma Bhushan to Ghulam Nabi: Sibal took a jibe, 'Congress does not need Azad's services, the country is honoring'
Categories: Politics news
Sibal sarcastically said, "It is ironic that the Congress does not need the services of Ghulam Nabi Azad, while the country is respecting his contribution." Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal tweeted, 'Ghulam Nabi Azad honored with Padma Bhushan. Congratulations brother. The irony is that Congress does not need his services, but the country is respecting his contribution to public life. Sibal and Azad have been members of Group 23 of the Congress, which has been an advocate of radical change in the party. However, this group is no longer active in the party. There have been no changes in the party as per the demands of this group, nor change in the party leadership and open elections for the post of president. The party is still following the old pattern and one by one the leaders are slipping away from the party. Earlier, former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had taken a veiled jibe at Azad. Ramesh had said on former Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's rejection of Padma Bhushan award that 'right decision taken, he wants to be free and not a slave'. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor congratulated Azad. On the other hand, on Wednesday, taking a dig at former Union Minister RPN Singh leaving the party, said that now there is a 'BJP with Congress'.
