Governor Jared Polis signs executive order strengthening abortion protections in Colorado
It has been quite contradictory when it comes to various states after the United States Supreme Court overturned Ro v Wade. While a large number of states wasted no time in passing "trigger laws" making abortion even more difficult, there are some states that are trying to find ways to preserve reproductive rights. The Democratic governor of Colorado joined the fight and said the state would not investigate abortion.
Jared Polis signed an executive order explicitly stating that the state would not participate in filing criminal or civil investigations against those involved in the abortion process. The governor of North Carolina - Roy Copper - also signed an executive order aimed at protecting abortion rights. According to the order, the medical providers who perform abortions or perform them shall be punished in any manner.
Judges in Mississippi and Florida were able to impose a temporary ban on trigger bans, but successful appeals meant it would be more difficult for people to complete the process in those states. In Ohio, a six-week abortion ban was announced by the authorities, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
