Sloviansk, a city in Donetsk that has founditself on the front lines as Russian forces advance, has become a hotbed ofRussian aggression in recent times.
The British Defense Ministry said the fight for the citywould be Ukraine's "next important competition". Russiahas turned its attention to annexation of more parts of the Donetsk region of Donbass, having already seized neighboring Luhansk province. Donetsk is now facing heavyfire, the same strategy that the Russian army used in Luhansk. Sloviask, Kramatorsk and Bakhmutare now Russia's main targets.
According to Serhi Haidai, the head of the Luhansk RegionalMilitary Administration, Ukrainian forces are trying to hold back Russianfighters on the border between the neighboring regions of Luhansk and Donetskregions. "During the attack on Lisichansk alone, thousands of Russiansoldiers were killed and wounded.
In addition, the Russian occupied are facing problems withammunition supplies, as the Ukrainian army has destroyed several ammunitiondepots in the occupied territories in recent weeks,” Haidai said. Haidai believedthat as the Ukrainian army received more long-range weapons, Russia's advantagein terms of personnel numbers would diminish.
