Team India have lost their second match of the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup 2022 by 62 runs to New Zealand at Hamilton on Thursday (March 10). Chasing 261 to win, India were bundled out for 198 in 46.4 overs in spite of a valiant 71 by vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur.White Ferns pacer Lea Tahuhu was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3/17 in 10 overs while leg-spinner Amelia Kerr picked up three wickets as well including that of Indian captain Mithali Raj. Harmanpreet's knock came off just 63 balls with six fours and two sixes but came too late in the day for India. Captain Mithali Raj had fallen in her effort to push the run-rate, departing for 31 off 56 balls. Mithali charged down the track to New Zealand leg-spinner Amelia Kerr, as India slumped to 97/4 in 30th over still needing 164 runs to win in 20 overs.Amelia provided a double breakthrough in the 30th over, dismissing dashing Indian wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh for a duck to reduce India to 101 for 5. Vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur is in the middle unbeaten on 22 off 29 balls with Sneh Rana. Rana survived the hattrick ball from Amelia, cutting a boundary for four off the first ball. Opener Yastika Bhatia was dismissed for 28 off 59 balls. Lea Tahuhu bagged her second wicket with India needing a further 211 runs to win in 30 overs at a run-rate of over 7 runs.Vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur is now in the middle with Mithali Raj and the duo have a massive task at hand if they want to chase down this total by New Zealand.Skipper Mithali Raj has joined Yastika Bhatia in the middle. Yastika has been brough into the match to replace out-of-form opener Shafali Verma. Mandhana had scored a fine half-century in the first World Cup match against Pakistan. Deepti Sharma provided much-needed breakthrough for Mithali Raj's side as New Zealand lost Maddy Green for a well-made 27 off 36 balls. New Zealand women are 178/4 in 34 overs with skipper Amy Satterthwaite going strong on an unbeaten 53 off 62 in their ICC Women's World Cup 2022 match in Hamilton on Thursday (March 10).Green had put on 54 runs for the fourth wicket with Satterthwaite before going for a big blow off the Indian spinner only to hit it straight down the throat of Smriti Mandhana at long-on. Deepti now has 1/29 in five over with Katey Martin joining Satterthwaite in the middle. Earlier, Team India captain Mithali Raj has won the toss in Hamilton on Thursday (March 10) and elected to bowl first in their second match of the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 against New Zealand. India started off the tournament with a win over arch-rivals Pakistan while hosts NZ have lost one (against West Indies) and won one (against Bangladesh) so far.
