The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday heard the petition of former cricketer Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj had demanded the dismissal of the case registered against himself in the police station city Hansi. A bench of Justice Amol Ratan Singh dismissed the petition and ordered a trial against Yuvraj Singh under the SC-ST Act. However, giving some relief to Yuvraj Singh, the High Court removed Section 153A in the case. Arjun Sheoran, counsel for the complainant, Advocate Rajat Kalsan, told that the High Court rejected Yuvraj's contention that the word Bhangi is used for cannabis drinkers. Now in this case, the trial will be held against Yuvraj Singh in the special court established under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes Atrocities Act in Hisar. He will have to appear in court on every appearance. In this case, the High Court has already granted anticipatory bail to Yuvraj Singh in the case registered against him. Now Hansi police will file a chargesheet against Yuvraj Singh in the special court. While video chatting on Instagram with his fellow cricketers Rohit Sharma and Yuzvendra Chahal, Yuvraj Singh had made derogatory remarks for the scheduled caste society and the video went viral on social media. After this, Rajat Kalsan, a Dalit rights activist from Hansi, lodged an FIR against Yuvraj Singh in the police station city.
