Danish Siddiqui's parents reached International Court against Taliban, accused of torture

Indian journalist Danish Siddiqui's parents are preparing for a legal war against the Taliban. It is reported that the parents have moved the International Criminal Court (ICC) against the 6 leaders of the Taliban. It is being alleged that Siddiqui was tortured before he was killed. The 38-year-old journalist died in Afghanistan while reporting last year.The parents have alleged that the Taliban first detained, tortured and killed Siddiqui before mutilating his body. The journalist's mother Shahida Akhtar said, "Our beloved son Danish was murdered by the Taliban just because of his duty as a journalist." Initially there were reports that Siddiqui died in a shootout at Spin Boldak in Kandahar on July 16. Siddiqui's parents' lawyer Avi Singh said, "The Taliban targeted and killed Danish because he was a journalist and an Indian. It is an international crime. According to the statement issued by the parents, 'After the murder, his body was mutilated including being trampled by a heavy vehicle. There were marks of brutal torture and 12 bullets on his body. In the year 2018, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize. He received this award for his work on the violence against the Rohingya community in Myanmar. Adnan Abidi's name is also included with him who received this award. In July 2021, he was working on the conflict in the Kandahar region of Afghanistan. The journalist's father said, 'Our son will not return, our petition will ease the misery in the hope that someday justice will be done.'
